Normally as a parent, you wouldn’t want your kids spray painting things like cars.
It felt very counter intuitive to encourage spray painting Cadillac cars but when in Amarillo…
Cadillac Ranch is a well known Route 66 landmark. Ten classic Caddies were half buried in the 1970s as a public art display in the Texas panhandle. Since then, countless visitors have stopped by to literally leave their mark.
We’ve actually visited twice now: once on our maiden voyage to the Grand Canyon and again on our way to Southern California. There is an RV park down the road that also sells some spray paint and other souvenirs. Spray paint is cheaper at Wally World so plan ahead.
It really is a fun experience for everyone. Our kids had the chance to do something that normally would be completely off limits: spray paint cars. Or deface public property. So it feels fundamentally wrong to encourage it.
